One of Chad Alice Hagen's Five-only resist Dyeing Workshops for 2009

Whoa! Keep your shirt on for this FABULOUS five full days of resist dyeing and beyond using wool felt. Using merino needle punch batts for our palette, the HANDS-ON class will cover several versions of dry powder immersion dyeing and many, many new and updated methods of resist dyeing. New tools and overdyeing methods will result in beautiful complex surface patterns on felted wool. And if that wouldn't be enough - we will be arranging our splendid samples into artful compositions and stitching and beading the surface!

The samples and techniques learned in this class will provide inspiration for beginning and advanced felters, beaders, quilters and other textile artists.

There is nothing more satisfying than to sew beautiful shiny beads onto rich, matte hand felted wool, and when that wool is covered with incredibly beautiful resist patterns and colors - well, hang onto your previously felted hats because this class will not only fulfill all your longings to embellish but will teach you valuable felting and dyeing skills as well.

Class will start off by learning to hand felt merino fine wools into flat shapes and then, setting up a safe, easy to replicate at home dye kitchen, will learn many secrets of exciting resist dyeing. We will make dozens of beautiful pieces of felted textiles and then, learn to use the resist dyed surface marks as a guide for beading. Notes and discussions on color, design and composition will also be given.
